December 13th Full Moon Tarot Curated Insights: On Feeling Stuck
The full moon is upon us, and I’ve pulled our cards to curate our moon cycle’s theme. I used the Star Seeker Oracle deck and the Star Seeker Tarot, and we pulled Stuck, the Two of Swords and the Five of Cups. Be sure to have a look at the cards, let’s dive in.
This full moon speaks to stagnation and a challenging crossroads. You may feel confined either by circumstances, old patterns, or limiting beliefs. However, within the confinement lies an invitation to shift your view and find freedom. The cards indicate this is a time to identify where you need to create openings in your life. Like a seed breaking through soil, new growth emerges precisely where we allow space.
Exploring the Cards:
Stuck (Oracle): This card reflects feelings of limitation and confinement. The cramped positioning of the figure suggests internal resistance or external circumstances that feel restrictive. However, sometimes feeling stuck is the precursor to breakthrough - when we fully acknowledge our constraints, we can begin to work creatively within or beyond them.
I feel this card also asks us to look at what we’ve outgrown. This could be a place, a person, a behavior, a project, a pursuit. Sometimes we do things out of comfort and habit, but at some point, and who knows why this happens, something changes. We realize that what we’re doing is making us feel stuck, confined, or restrained. One option is to ignore and deny – to maintain the status quo. But if you look at this card you can see that doing so will become impossible, the box you’re in will eventually collapse.
Stuck is that state of perceived immobility, whether physical, emotional, or spiritual. It’s when we feel unable to move forward or backward, often despite knowing change is needed. It's like being caught in an eddy in a river - there's movement, but it's circular, repetitive, and doesn't lead to progress.
To break it down further, being stuck can manifest as:
A state where familiar discomfort feels safer than unknown possibilities
The space between outgrowing old patterns and discovering new ones
A feeling of confinement by self-imposed limitations or external expectations
The tension between knowing something needs to change and feeling unable to initiate that change
A recurring cycle of behaviors or thoughts that keep us in place despite our desire for movement
What's particularly interesting is that "stuck" doesn't always mean nothing is happening. Often, like a seed beneath frozen ground, the very feeling of being stuck is a sign that transformation is already underway, we just can't see it yet.
Two of Swords: The blindfolded figure with dual swords speaks to a crossroads requiring spiritual insight rather than logical reasoning. You're being asked to trust your intuition and inner knowing. The spread arms suggest openness to receiving guidance, even while feeling uncertain of the path forward.
Five of Cups: This card reminds us that grief and gratitude can coexist. The figure mourning the spilled cups hasn't yet noticed the two full ones behind them. It's an invitation to honor your losses while remaining open to the blessings that persist. The earthy colors suggest this is about grounding in reality rather than dwelling in what might have been.
Together, these cards weave a story of transformation through acceptance. You're being called to acknowledge where you feel stuck while trusting there's movement happening beneath the surface. The full moon's energy supports releasing old perspectives that keep you focused on lack rather than abundance.
By embracing both the shadows and light of your current situation, you create space for new possibilities to emerge. This is a time for gentle self-reflection and trusting that even when you can't see the way forward, wisdom is guiding your path.
In support of this reading, I recommend crossing some things off your to do list, not because the task has been completed, but because the task may be keeping you confined or locked into old patterns. Just because you’ve been doing something for a long time doesn’t mean you have to keep doing it forever. Leave room in your day, even if it’s only 10-20 minutes to just be, and do nothing. Doing so is creating room for new intuitions to emerge and take root.
I recently cleared the house of Yule décor. Instead of updating altar spaces and redecorating I left things bare. For some reason I felt this allowed my personal space to experience freedom. I waited until I felt truly called to fill the space, and I have to say, I’ve kept things pretty sparce. I’m letting myself, and my physical space, breathe.
When my time, my space, and my energy isn’t all used up and filled, I feel my inner power slowly growing. This growth can happen because I’m not confined by old promises, tasks, or to dos that may have been keeping me stuck in a place I no longer belong.
I’m learning that sometimes the bravest thing we can do is simply create space and wait to see what wants to grow there. Nature abhors a vacuum, and eventually, something will emerge to fill the void. Maybe the void will revitalize old ways, making them feel new again, or maybe something entirely different will arise. Either way, we cannot renew the soil of our being if it’s always productive.
